Bamboo is one of the most sustainable and versatile materials on earth.
In the countries of South East Asia where it grows naturally, it has been used for a huge range of everyday items, large and small, for centuries. Our fair trade bamboo bowls are made by a WFTO member in Vietnam.
Recently bamboo has been used for more unusual items like the bamboo socks we stock.
As our summer develops we start thinking about barbecues and salads, and bamboo is a great material to use for serving salads and dips.
Once the bamboo has been harvested by hand - saving on the high energy costs of conventional logging - it is torn into strips and wound around a mould with eco friendly plant based glue to stick the strips together. Once set, the bowl is trimmed and an eco friendly lacquer (made using cashew nuts) is applied to the outside giving the great range of colours.
Why not add a splash of colour to your summer meals with these great fair trade bamboo items?
