We are a small home based business.

We keep all stock at home, so when you place an order, we don't have to travel to collect or package your items. It's all done in our home office.

We package the majority of our goods in recycled plastic mailing bags. Originally we started doing this to protect against rainwater, but now it means you have the option to disinfect the package when it arrives in your home.

We have been strictly observing the government's advice and have been socially distancing - staying in apart from for essential trips - since 16 March.

As far as we can be sure, nobody who lives in or has visited our home has been ill since the outbreak hit the UK.

We use the Royal Mail and very occasionally Parcelforce for deliveries. We have a "Drop & Go" account so we don't have to wait in line or get within 2 metres of anyone when we post out your goods. As long as our local post offices are open, and we remain well, we will get your orders out. Like a lot of essential services, the Royal Mail is under pressure with staff self-isolating, so your parcel may not arrive as quickly as you would normally expect, None of this is normal, but we'll get through it together.

Artisans and producers in low income countries rely on fair trade to support their families. Fair trade has helped build some resilience into the communities we help in the form of better hygiene and sanitation, better nutrition and healthcare support. Most of the countries where our goods originate have banned exports and imports to limit the spread of the virus. This means workers are unable to get their work to us, and in some cases their workshops are closed. Our suppliers are continuing to pay for and place orders to keep their producers going through what we hope is a very short-lived period in our lives. In contrast, high street fashion companies in the UK have cancelled $1.5bn in orders with garment factories in Bangladesh, putting thousands of low paid women out of work.

The need for fair trade has never been clearer. Thank you for your support and stay safe and well.

What Seed and Bean say about themselves…

Seed & Bean was founded in June 2005 with the idea to create an ethical range of confectionery. The focus was on always using organic ingredients, using small-scale suppliers and being brave and wild with flavours; Chocolate with a Wild Side.

Seed and Bean, the chocolate that cares.

Accredited as the most ethical chocolate producer in Britain*, we are firm believers that a little Tender Love and Care goes a long way. That’s why right from day one, we’ve made it our ethos to create the most ethical, sustainable and delicious British chocolate. From conception to consumption, each and every bar of Seed and Bean chocolate has been treated with uppermost care throughout its life journey so that we can ensure that we give you the very best.

How do we do this you may ask?
.

1. We’ve all heard that organic products are best and it’s no myth. Organic foods have been proven to have higher nutritional value than those same products that are not organic. This is usually down to the extra agricultural care taken and freeness from chemicals. And because we care and know that goodness comes from within, we ensure that ALL the ingredients we use in our wildly delicious flavours are organic!

    2. It’s not about only looking after what you eat, but also looking after those who source it and where it came from- which is why we make sure to use Fairtrade approved suppliers where we can, with 16 of our bars being Fairtrade certified. That way we know that those who source all the the deliciousness that we put into our bars, are also well looked after. As they say, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey!

    3. Finally, it’s all about compostable caring! After enjoying that cocoa goodness, we like to ensure that the environment is taken care of too. That means making sure that each individual wrapper is FULLY compostable. So not only is the outer paper layer recyclable, our inner foil is made from Natureflex™, a specially sourced, flexible cellulose film which is made from eucalyptus wood pulp! This can simply be disposed of in your home compost bin. It is by using these all natural ingredients, that make the entire packaging of our bars naturally, recyclable! Quite a mouthful we know!
