Brand: KazuriColour: BlueMaterial: Beaded
This fantastic blue round bead bracelet is bold, fun and fair trade.
Handmade in Kenya, the bracelet features small Blue spherical ceramic beads that have been strung on elastic to enable the bracelet to comfortably fit different sized wrists.
Each of the beads are glazed by hand, giving them a beautiful glossy finish, and are separated by 2 small brass rings - just the kind of wonderful design feature that we have come to expect from Kazuri.
How they are made:
All Kazuri beads are shaped by hand from earthen clay and kiln fired. They are then painted and glazed by hand, before being kiln fired again and then finally strung. This process makes each piece of jewellery an individual, taking on the quirks and trademarks of the local women that made it.
Please note that this bracelet has been individually handmade, and therefore all dimensions are approximate and subject to minor variations.

We have always been very impressed by the wonderful combination of stylish designs and high quality products of Kazuri Beads.
Like us, you will love that Kazuri bracelets and necklaces offer a contemporary western take on traditional African jewellery – and you only have to feel the weight of some of their necklaces to know that this is jewellery of the highest quality. And what’s more, all of it is fair trade and handmade in Kenya.
What Kazuri say about themselves…
Kazuri, which means small and beautiful in Swahili, is hand-painted ceramic jewellery made in Kenya. Every bead which makes up a necklace or bracelet is shaped by hand by one of the 350 local women employed. The beads are then kiln fired once, glazed and fired again before being strung.
Founded by the late Lady Susan Wood, Kazuri is still located where she first started creating employment for struggling single mothers back in 1975. The workshop is in Karen, named after Karen Blixen of 'Out Of Africa' fame, on part of the farm once owned by her.
In an age of mass-produced goods, Kazuri jewellery stands out as a little bit different. As every piece of jewellery is handmade, every one is unique. Indeed, many pieces take on the quirks and trademarks of the individual people who shape the beads, paint them or string them, giving them soul as well as beauty.

We are a small home based business.
We keep all stock at home, so when you place an order, we don't have to travel to collect or package your items. It's all done in our home office.
We package the majority of our goods in recycled plastic mailing bags. Originally we started doing this to protect against rainwater, but now it means you have the option to disinfect the package when it arrives in your home.
We have been strictly observing the government's advice and have been socially distancing - staying in apart from for essential trips - since 16 March.
As far as we can be sure, nobody who lives in or has visited our home has been ill since the outbreak hit the UK.
We use the Royal Mail and very occasionally Parcelforce for deliveries. We have a "Drop & Go" account so we don't have to wait in line or get within 2 metres of anyone when we post out your goods. As long as our local post offices are open, and we remain well, we will get your orders out. Like a lot of essential services, the Royal Mail is under pressure with staff self-isolating, so your parcel may not arrive as quickly as you would normally expect, None of this is normal, but we'll get through it together.
Artisans and producers in low income countries rely on fair trade to support their families. Fair trade has helped build some resilience into the communities we help in the form of better hygiene and sanitation, better nutrition and healthcare support. Most of the countries where our goods originate have banned exports and imports to limit the spread of the virus. This means workers are unable to get their work to us, and in some cases their workshops are closed. Our suppliers are continuing to pay for and place orders to keep their producers going through what we hope is a very short-lived period in our lives. In contrast, high street fashion companies in the UK have cancelled $1.5bn in orders with garment factories in Bangladesh, putting thousands of low paid women out of work.
The need for fair trade has never been clearer. Thank you for your support and stay safe and well.
