Tagua Seed Bracelet - Blue

Price:  £10.00

This superb seed bracelet is bold, stylish and fair trade.

Handmade in Columbia, the "Gotas de Tagua" (Drop of Tagua) bracelet features Blue teardrop shaped beads which have been strung on strong elastic to enable the bracelet to comfortably fit different sized wrists.

Each of the beads are separated by 2 cubed metal beads - a wonderful design detail which finishes off this bracelet in style.

Tagua seeds:

The beads used in this bracelet are actually Tagua seeds that have been cut, shaped and dyed. Tagua is the hardened fruit of the Ivory-nut Palm Tree, which flourishes in the tropical forests from Paraguay to Panama, and is often used as a substitute for elephant ivory because of its properties and similarities.

Women for ConservationWomen for Conservation (until recently known as Amparo Crafts) are a superb addition to our roster of suppliers. On first meeting owner, Elizabeth, we were very impressed by the fair trade and eco mission she was undertaking with her company.

Not only are Women for Conservation's handmade bracelets and necklaces stylish and great quality, but they come with impressive fair trade and eco credentials. The label of every piece of jewellery has the name of the artisan who made it, and you can read their personal story on the artisan page on their website.

What Women for Conservation say about themselves…

Women for Conservation was established to offer an income and a better way of life for women living in areas rich in biodiversity, whose only prior means of survival was to exploit the natural resources around them in order to provide for their families.

The project provides opportunities for women in these rural communities by training them to make environmentally friendly handmade jewellery using sustainably harvested exotic seeds, and then selling their products ensuring a fair wage, helping to increase income generation within impoverished communities in the buffer zones of protected areas.

By buying our products you are both empowering these women and supporting conservation of the rainforest of Colombia.
