    Fairtrade farmers slapped with 100,000 Brexit tariffs

    Since 1 January 2020 shipments from countries with whom the UK doesn't have a trade agreement face tariffs. In the case of Fairtrade bananas from Ghana this means 95 per tonne, or 9.5p on the cost of each 1kg of bananas. This could bankrupt Fairtrade farmers.

    Fairtrade Connections arts festival

    2020 has been a difficult and challenging year for all of us. Fairtrade Fortnight 2020 was the last time many of us were able to campaign in our communities, meet up with our fair trade friends and celebrate the farmers and workers who grow and make the Fairtrade goods we love. So Fairtrade Yorkshire is working with other regions and nations around the UK to create a Fairtrade arts festival for Fairtrade Fortnight 2021.

    FIG Tree Bean to Bar Chocolate

    The FIG Tree is a social enterprise in Garstang in Lancashire, the world's first Fairtrade Town. Conceived as a centre for all things Fairtrade the FIG Tree now serves to act as a bridge with cocoa farmers in Ghana and to educate children and adults about Fairtrade chocolate through chocolate making workshops.

    Fair to Trade Christmas decorations

    We've been selling hand painted Christmas decorations from Fair to Trade since 2013 on our Christmas market stalls in Manchester and Sheffield, but since this year there are no face to face sales for us in 2020 you can now buy them online.

    Day of Action in support of Fairtrade cocoa farmers

    Thursday 1 October is a global Day of Action in support of Fairtrade cocoa farmers. 

    The campaign to Keep KitKat Fairtrade has reached its conclusion with a socially distanced petition hand-in at the Nestle offices in York.
