Hand Made Cotton Apron

Price:  £6.00Earn 6 Loyalty Points

These fun cotton aprons are hand made by the women of the Mbedza Project in Malawi.

Created on treadle sewing machines so they aren't reliant on intermittent electricity, using brightly coloured batik designs that are characteristic of Malawian clothing.

They are machine washable at 40 degrees so you can get as messy in the kitchen as you like.

Apron measures approx 75cm long, 60cm wide with two 75cm long waist ties.

Patch pocket in a contrast print measures approx 40cm wide and 18cm high. The pocket is divided into two sections.

MPS works in Malawi providing training and jobs for women in some of the world's poorest places. Using treadle sewing machines since the supply of electricity is unreliable, the women use traditional batik cotton fabrics to craft a lovely range of bags and aprons in vibrant colours.

What MPS say about themselves…

Our goal is the prevention and relief of poverty in Malawi.

We have learnt the importance of the following values through 20 years of experience operating in Malawi:

We listen carefully

We respect the local

We build slowly

We give encouragement

We are a learning organisation.
